It is our pleasure to announce that after proudly serving collection and disposal customers throughout Central Kentucky for nearly 30 years, Waste Services of the Bluegrass (WSB) is selling our trash collection business, Central Kentucky Hauling, and the operations of the Bluegrass Regional Transfer Station to the recycling and solid waste disposal company, Republic Services^®.

We’ve always prided ourselves on providing the highest level of waste hauling and disposal services in the Central Kentucky, and we continue to do so through our other business entities. WSB continues to own and operate Thoroughbred Disposal and Green City Recovery.

Republic Services is committed to provide customers with the level of safety and excellence that you have come to expect. The company has 150 employees throughout the Lexington and surrounding area dedicated to serving you – and they’re welcoming 40 of our employees to their local team. Central Kentucky Hauling is still the local team you’ve come to depend on, now with the support from a national recycling and waste company.

We want to make this transition as seamless as possible, and we’ll help you navigate future changes to your account and any action you need to take in the weeks ahead.

What you can expect:

• At this time, most collection services will continue as scheduled without interruption. You may see changes to your service day or time in the future, but Republic Services will notify you well in advance of the changes.
• You’ll be serviced by many of the same dedicated local team members who you’re used to seeing handle your collections.
• The hours of operation, accepted materials, and safety policies and protocols at the transfer station will not change.
• Republic Services is in the process of moving your account information to their billing systems. Watch for more information from Republic Services with your new account number and next steps. Going forward, you’ll be able to pay your invoices by phone, mail or through the Republic Services website or app.
• Large container (roll-off) customers invoice frequency will change from weekly to twice a month. Residential, commercial, and transfer station customers will continue to have the same invoice frequency.

In the interim, you may pay Bluegrass Regional Transfer Station and the Central Kentucky Hauling invoices by calling 859-225-2521 or by making a payment by mail. Please be sure to include your service address with payment.
